When we build your retaining wall, we ensure best safety practices. The first thing we consider is which way to divert the water, and place a perforated drainpipe against the back of the wall before backfilling.  We then backfill the area behind the wall in layers, with gravel against the wall and fill dirt behind it, firmly tamping down each layer.  And we finish with a layer of topsoil. Laying the first course of blocks properly is very important as this first line is what keeps the rest of the wall from sliding or moving.   If we are working on slope, we will start with the edge or corner that is most visible as it will also provide extra support to the entire row.
